LAMAN2008 - The Malaysia International Garden & Festival 2008

Games of the XXIX Olympiad - Beijing 2008
Beijing, China 8 - 24 August 2008

On 13 July 2001 at the 112th IOC Session in Moscow, Beijing was elected the Host City for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008. The vote followed in line with the recommendation of the IOC Evaluation Commission that "a Beijing Games would leave a unique legacy to China and to sports. The Commission is confident that Beijing could organise an excellent Games".

10th World Leisure Congress
Quebec City, Canada 6 - 10 October 2008

The Congress will be hosted by the Conseil québécois du loisir, supported by the Government of Québec . A strong delegation from Québec gave an impressive presentation to the delegates of 7th World Congress recently held in Kuala Lumpur. The Congress will coincide with Québec City's 400th Anniversary celebrations. Strategically located and among North America's most sought after tourist destinations, Québec is expected to attract a large number of delegates, particularly from Europe and North America.

Parks and Leisure Australia National Conference
Melbourne Victoria 9 - 12 November 2008

The Parks and Leisure Australia 2008 National Conference will be held in Melbourne Victoria, Australia during November at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The Program Committee is now ‘Calling for Papers' to be presented at the Conference. All the information is on the website and submissions can be done ‘online'. Submissions close on Monday 14 April 2008.

2008 is the 10th Anniversary of Parks and Leisure Australia, and they hope you celebrate with them at their National Conference .

Vth International Symposium on Horticultural Research, Training and Extension
Chiang Mai, Thailand 7 - 11 December, 2008

The theme of the symposium will be Research Training and Extension in Horticultural Science: Staff, Student, Institution and Industry Partnerships in a Changing World. Accordingly, research papers, posters and case studies that address the following key issues will be most welcome:

• The impact of changing research training and extension pressures on environmental and production horticulture programs throughout the world?
• How might this impact be addressed?
• To deal effectively with issues of research training and extension in horticultural science, what will be the relevant skill set required for staff, students and industry into the next decade?
• How can we partner and market persuasive cases to sustain research training and extension in horticulture at education and training institutions in the future?

Contributions will be welcomed from academics, researchers, executives, consultants, government officers, graduate students and growers. All papers will be subject to a blind peer review and the papers that are accepted will be published in a special edition of ACTA HORTICULTURAE.

The 5th East Asian Games 2009
Hong Kong

The East Asian Games are held to foster extensive exchanges of sports and cultures among the National Olympic committees (NOCs) in the East Asian regions. It not only aims to promote sports for all people in East Asia but also to develop intercultural knowledge and friendship within the East Asian regions.

IFPRA Europe 2009
Mikkeli, Finland 15 - 17 June 2009

The Ifpra Europe Congress 2009 is to be held in Mikkeli, the capital of Eastern Finland and a gateway to the Finnish Lakeland. Nature is never far away in this city of just under 50,000 inhabitants.

The theme of the Ifpra Europe Congress, Modern Society – Balance with Nature, takes an all-round look at the built and natural environment. Delegates will have a chance to visit a variety of green areas, among them the new horticultural tourist attraction Mikkeli Park.

Chelsea Flower Show

The 22nd IFPRA World Congress in Hong Kong 2010, the theme is ' Quality Services - Parks, Recreation and Tourism', the venue being the 'Hong Kong Cultural Centre', and organisation by the 'Leisure and Cultural Services Department' and the 'Hong Kong Recreation Management Association'.
